The main activities of the KTU Institute of Architecture and Construction are based on research, national and international projects, and R&D services in the areas of architecture and urban planning, heritage, spatial planning and sustainable development of the landscape, buildings’ energy properties and heat transfer, properties of building materials and products, and their durability.

Institute has well established high working culture, is known among the organisations and companies in Lithuania and abroad. The areas of research and experimental development respond to the needs of science, economy and culture of Lithuania. The contemporary base for high quality research, the qualification of researchers and scientists and engineering staff allow the Institute to achieve exceptional results in fundamental and applied research.

Institute of Architecture and Construction was established in 1956; it was connected to Kaunas University of Technology in 2010. Since its establishment the Institute’s activity was focused on the needs of Lithuanian science, culture and economy.
